…for the fantastic submissions to the Life On 66 service station slogan contest. After taking a whole day to go through the entries, we have chosen the winner. Steven Ellerd of Georgetown, TX sent in a slogan that fits in perfectly. ”Yes, Gas Can.” Simple and funny and makes you stop and think for a second. With that slogan in mind I created the first sign that will be used. It is listed below. So thank you all for your entries and look for another mug winning contest in the near future. And a special thanks to Steven for the slogan.
The contest is over and now comes the hard part. Choosing a winner. GREAT entries, so this will be hard to pick just one. Come back on Feb.3, 2011 and I will name the winner.
The deadline for the first ever Life On 66 contest is rapidly approaching. There are some great entries already and we are looking for more. It is easy as pie to enter. Just click on Contest on the menu bar above. Hurry, do not be left out.
If you are a regular reader to this webcomic, or even if you are not, you will notice a big change in the appearance. The new background and displays give the website more of the Life On 66 feel. Warm tones and a highway that leads you to my characters. The massive improvements are courtesy of Philip Hofer. The creator of ComicPress, the system I use to display my comics. Phil goes by @Frumph on twitter and is VERY WELL known in the webcomic community. I venture to say 99% of us use ComicPress. And Phil is always there with a helping hand. You ask for a hankie and he will give you the shirt off his back (programming wise). And he never asks for a penny. Lucky for me he has a donate button on Frumph.net. I hope you are a thrilled at the new look of Life On 66 as I am. And the credit all goes to Phil.
This Wednesday’s comic (1/19/11) will be a little different. It will feature another webcartoonist/humorist. All of my characters on Life On 66 are taken from real people I know or have known. So when I needed a character for a certain “position” in Carbon Cliff, well, Bo just fits like a glove. Bo Lumpkin is the man behind http://www.gatorhead.wordpress.com. His easy laid-back humor went seamlessly into Life On 66. His character will be a recurring one. I highly recommend you visit his web site and get to know his work better.
