I have added a quick POLL to the right sidebar. I noticed an increase in readership over the last two months, a big increase, and I was wondering if it was due to my comic now having a story line. The Wizard of OZ that is going on now. So I am wondering, would you, readers, prefer the story driven comic or the gag a day strip like I usually do? Let me know.

I like the variety. Just about any gag-a-day comic can be improved if it has the occasional story line: they can add ideas that wouldn’t normally come up but which can lead to additional topics for gags, and there is never anything wrong with that if a comic writer wants to keep going for long!
I like variety too. The ironic thing is that gag a day panel cartoons were very hard to sell to the newspapers because they wanted ongoing characters and the space considerations were different. On the internet, gag a day stuff is way more popular. Bob Hope would’ve done great on the internet.
Obviously, I like the story format. But I think it is mostly a matter of creative choice and artistic comfort which way you go. It is a labor of love in either case. I like developing characters and situations but I also always loved Peanuts and B.C too. It really is a personal artistic choice that you have to make for yourself after all it’s your creation.
