This joke, “strawberry shortcut” goes way back. In the middle 70s the real Chuck and I were part of a comedy team we created called Phelps, Foster & Reese. One night Chuck and I were tossing around comedic ideas and we came up with the strawberry shortcut. Well, no less than 2 to 3 months later I was listening to Dr. Demento on the radio and I heard a Stan Freberg routine called “Little Blue Riding Hood.” And it had the same shortcut joke in it. I am sure, time-wize, he came up with it before me. But it is a true joke that we came up with separately. Great minds think alike. :)
I went on iTunes and bought the Freberg routine. Here is what he stole from us…hahahaa

I have added a quick POLL to the right sidebar. I noticed an increase in readership over the last two months, a big increase, and I was wondering if it was due to my comic now having a story line. The Wizard of OZ that is going on now. So I am wondering, would you, readers, prefer the story driven comic or the gag a day strip like I usually do? Let me know.
If you look into the Witch’s huge crystal ball what do you see? Perhaps a, contest? Perhaps. :)
If you look closely you will see the broom’s tail number. I mean, after all, it is an aircraft and requires one. Right? Anyway, the number, N37331B, was the tail number to my hot air balloon that I used to own and fly. Just saying.
Before you send me emails and comments, I am a retired firefighter of 30 years, I know what an axe is for in a fire. I just had to get a way to get the axe in the story. :)
As a kid our schools always celebrated May Day. We made fake flowers for our mothers and some would gather at the May Pole (flag pole) and circle with streamers. I just thought I would pass this along as it is a very pleasant memory I had in Carbon Cliff.
